Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley
Ava DuVernay born August 24 72 years old from Long Beach California. DuVernay was motivated to pursue her love of art by her aunt Denise at the age of a small child. Her aunt was a nurse, who was a night shift worker so she could devote her days to literature, theatre, and art. The aunt introduced DuVernay to the film of 1961 West Side Story and DuVernay became enthralled by the film. DuVernay was instructed by her mom that the arts can serve to engage people. DuVernay was also taught by her mother, who was a social sassy and pushed DuVernay to exhibit her artistic talents. Even though DuVernay was raised within Compton with her family she spent every summer at Lowndes County Alabama where her father's family grew up for generations. The father of DuVernay's recollects seeing the historic march of Civil Rights Movement across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was located in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. Her summers in Alabama's Selma inspire her later to make the film about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the year 1990, DuVernay completed her studies at Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. DuVernay attended University of California Los Angeles following her graduation, and earned degrees in English as well as African American Studies. DuVernay discovered a passion for journalistic broadcasting while in school. She was an CBS News intern during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was told to look at the trash from a home belonging to a jury member. When she was dissatisfied with journalism by the tasks she was assigned, DuVernay decided to pursue an interest in public relations. DuVernay began working in a small studio as a junior publicist right after college. Her private PR company, The DuVernay Agency was founded in 1999. The agency was the first to launch a variety of promotional and lifestyle networks which include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye. Her fame is due to her performances on American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn appeared as Rose as Rose in A More Perfect Union, as well as Anna Payne in American Experience.
